The Bucket List to Mend a Broken Heart - Anna Bell

Abi's barely left her bed since Joseph, the love of her life, dumped her, saying they were incompatible. When Joseph leaves a box of her possessions on her doorstep, she finds a bucket list of ten things she never knew he wanted to do. Will completing the action-packed list - no easy challenge for the naturally timid Abi - be the way to win back her man? Or might Abi just have a surprise in store…?

This tale was exactly what I was looking for as a Summer read; a broken-hearted girl with a kick-arse attitude and ultimately becomes a new version of herself. Women power? Yes. Laugh out loud tales? Absolutely.

After being abruptly dumped, Abi, you’re normal relatable girl, stumbles across his bucket list and obviously thinks it’s a great idea to complete all of these challenges to win the loser back. Of course, what follows? A hot man. New hobbies. Bitchy work drama. Everything which could get in her way.
I have to admit that at first I wasn’t feeling the book as she was quite a pathetic character but by 1/5 of the way in I was hooked.

Will they get back together? Will she discover something about herself? Find a new piece of eye candy?

A definite recommendation if you want something light, funny and easy to read with characters you can laugh and cry with.

In fact, this made me buy another book by Anna Bell - ‘The Good Girlfriend's Guide to Getting Even’. So come back to hear how this fares!

Hippie - Paulo Coelho

To learn about yourself, explore the world around you. Drawing on the rich experience of his own life, bestselling author Paulo Coelho takes us back in time to relive the dreams of a generation that longed for peace and dared to challenge the established social order.  In HIPPIE, he tells the story of Paulo, a skinny Brazilian with a goatee and long hair, setting off on a journey in search of a deeper meaning for his life. He travels on the famous `Death Train to Bolivia', then on to Peru, later hitchhiking through Chile and Argentina. In the famous Dam Square in Amsterdam he finds young people playing music, while discussing sexual liberation, the expansion of consciousness and the search for an inner truth. There he meets Karla, a Dutch woman in her twenties who has been waiting to find the ideal companion to accompany her on the fabled hippie trail to Nepal.  Together with their fellow travellers, they embark on a trip aboard the Magic Bus, heading across Europe and Cen...

#Girlboss - Sophia Amoruso

A #Girlboss is in charge of her own life. She gets what she wants because she works for it. The first thing Sophia Amoruso sold online wasn't fashion - it was a stolen book.  She spent her teens hitchhiking, committing petty theft, and dumpster diving. By twenty-two, she had resigned herself to employment, but was still broke, directionless, and working a mediocre day job she'd taken for the health insurance.  It was there that Sophia decided to start selling vintage clothes on eBay. Eight years later, she is the founder, CEO, and creative director of Nasty Gal, a $100 million plus online fashion retailer with more than 350 employees.  Sophia's never been a typical CEO, or a typical anything, and she's written #Girlboss for outsiders (and insiders) seeking a unique path to success, even when that path is winding as all hell and lined with naysayers. So good i read it twice. A year apart, but still. It was that great a read and resource i would recommend ...
